Details: Telstra Dome, Melbourne - 17 December 2005. This was the final show of Green Day's American Idiot world tour, and what a show it was. From the opening intro music from 2001: A Space Odyssey, where Billy Joe Armstrong stood in front of the crowd with arms raised as the Teslra Dome's roof parted to reveal Melbourne's cool summer night sky, to the closing tones of Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life), Green Day couldn't do any wrong. My only gripe, and it was the same when I saw them in 1995, was that there was a bit too much time wasting and they could easily have included a few more songs in the same amount of time. Where was 'Welcome To Paradise', 'When I Come Around', 'The Grouch' or 'The Brat'? The show was recorded in the Idiot Section about 30-40 metres from the right side PA and came out really well with a good balance between the music and crowd noise. Thankfully no one was talking right near me and everything is very clear. My rating: A
